Family Friendly Seaside Villages

The Tweed Coast and the seaside villages dotted along it are famous for beaches, surfing, fishing, coastal headlands and beachside parks.
Hastings Point, Pottsville Beach, Cabarita, Fingal Head, Kingscliff, and Wooyung share the more than 25 kilometres of beaches and coastal reserves, from Tweed Heads in the north to Brunswick Heads in the south.

Accommodation and Dining
Located on the Tweed Coast due east of Mt Warning, Pottsville offers a variety of accommodation, including holiday homes and flats, a motel, and two council run holiday parks.
The Pottsville Shopping Village offers a range of services, and dining options including Asian, seafood and fast food, while the local sports/bowls club provides excellent Aussie brasserie fare. Pipit Restaurant has garnered accolades for its commitment to fresh, local and seasonal menu.
And the Hastings Point General Store is reputed to serve up fish 'n chips just like your grandparents remember.
For those who want to self cater there's a well stocked supermarket.
Hastings Point just to the north of Pottsville, provide a more diverse range of lodgings, ranging from holiday bungalows and flats, to the council run holiday park, holiday apartments and the multi award winning Tasman Holiday Parks – North Star.
During the Xmas school holidays, the public reserve on Hastings Point Headland is also open to visitors for primitive camping, with basic facilities available. Bookings are managed by Tweed Holiday Parks Hastings Point. Opening and closing dates are subject to variation, and strict conditions apply. It is very popular, and often booked out well before the holidays start.

Attractions
Pottsville Beach Markets run by the Pottsville Beach Neighbourhood Centre operate on the first and third Sunday morning of the month, at the Phillip Street Reserve.
During Summer, Autumn and Spring school holidays, Tweed Shire Council employs local lifeguards to patrol North and South Pottsville Beach at designated areas either side of the creek.
Cudgera Creek at Hastings Point has long been a favourite for families, providing ample opportunities for adventures and exploration, with canoeing, fishing and swimming popular, especially for children.
Facilities include creek access, a drinking fountain, playground, picnic settings, shelters, public toilet, and showers.
Cycle Path
An off-road bicycling and walking path connects the villages from Pottsville Beach to Kingscliff, with the ample picnic areas along the coast providing free electric B.B.Q.s and amenities.
At Norries Headland in Cabarita and Hastings Point Headland, timbered walking tracks wind from the beach to the headland.
Boat launch ramps are available at Pottsville and Hastings Point.
Hastings Point / Cudgera Creek dog exclusion area
Council has designated a dog exclusion area encompassing land east of Tweed Coast Road from Yugari Drive north to Peninsula Street, including all foreshore areas of the Cudgera Creek estuary and the beach north of Cudgera Creek mouth to the shoreline adjacent to the Peninsula Street beach access walkway.
The closure of this area to dogs is to protect significant shorebird and beach nesting bird habitat and reduce disturbance.

Marine Discovery Centre Hastings Point
One of Australia’s largest, privately funded museums, the Marine Discovery Centre is located in Tasman Holiday Parks – North Star. Popular with North Star guests and day visitors alike, the Centre hosts educational programs for students and Tasman Holiday Parks – North Star guests. Individuals and families are also welcome to visit the Centre year-round.
The recently refurbished Centre is a showcase of state-of-the-art light and sound technology, fitted with interactive digital terminals and world-class marine and coastal science displays.
Pottsville Environmental Park
Formerly called the Pottsville Environmental Park, the Pottsville Environmental Park is located on the Coast Road at Pottsville Beach between two arms of Cudgera Creek.
The park contains fresh and saltwater (mangrove) wetlands, coastal eucalypt forest and remnants of heath and rainforest, giving bird watchers a chance to spot a wide variety of bird species in a relatively small area.
Walking tracks are mostly flat and well formed, with boardwalks through wetland areas and viewing platforms by the creek, It is a delightful natural setting for families to enjoy walking and gentle bicycling.
Pottsville Golf Course
And for people who enjoy hitting little balls into small holes using a long stick, Pottsville Golf Course is open Wednesday-Sunday and public holidays, offering a 9 hole, Par 29 round.
Getting to Pottsville Beach
Road
Getting here is easy: Located just a few minutes from the Pacific Highway, Pottsville is about 11 hours drive north from Sydney and about 70 minutes drive south from Brisbane, via the Pacific Motorway.
Air
Domestic flights operate from all capital cities to Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta, 20 minutes to the north and the Ballina/Byron Gateway airport 45 minutes south. A number of international carriers servicing SE Asia, New Zealand and the Pacific fly into Gold Coast Airport.

Coach/Rail
Local bus services travel from Pottsville and Hastings Point in the south, to the Gold Coast and theme parks in the north. Daily interstate coach services are available are available from Brisbane and Sydney, and daily or overnight train from Sydney to Brisbane via coach transfer at Casino.
